The organization aims to create a network of dynamic women leaders by providing them with opportunities and resources for their development through entrepreneurship and technology. WETECH develops training, coaching, and mentoring programs for women and girls in Africa. WETECH also provides a co-working space for start-ups and professional meetings.
We are looking for an Accountant in Douala.
Job Summary
We are looking for an Accountant to manage all financial transactions, from fixed payments and variable expenses to budgets and tax declarations. The accountant’s responsibilities include auditing financial documents and procedures, reconciling bank statements, and calculating tax payments and returns. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience with bookkeeping and a flair for spotting numerical mistakes. Ultimately, you will provide us with accurate quantitative information on the financial position, liquidity, and cash flows of our organization, while ensuring we are compliant with all tax regulations applicable to WETECH in Cameroon.
Job Purpose
The accountant will be expected to:
- Manage all accounting transactions;
- Prepare budget forecasts;
- Prepare financial statements on time;
- Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings;
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable and follow up on invoices when necessary;
- Ensure timely bank payments;
- Compute taxes and prepare tax returns for the specific tax regime applicable to our organization;
- Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements;
- Report on the organization’s financial health and liquidity;
- Audit financial transactions and documents;
- Reinforce financial data confidentiality;
- Comply with financial policies and regulations.
- Proficiency with standard systems and spreadsheets for invoicing and billing;
- Knowledge of standard accounting and bookkeeping principles and best practices;
- Significant experience with office productivity applications, with a strong aptitude for learning new systems and approaches;
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities at the same time, whether working independently or as part of a team;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French;
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of company financial information;
- Two or more years of prior experience in an accounting role;
- Competency with at least one financial planning software package;
- Additional accounting certification is a plus.

We are looking for a Communication and Community Specialist in Douala.
Job Summary
We are looking for a qualified communication and community specialist to join our team. If you are a tech-savvy professional, experienced in social media, public relations promotional events, and strategic communication, then this position is for you. Our ideal candidate should have exceptional oral and written communication skills in both of Cameroon’s official languages and be able to develop engaging content. He/She should be a “people person” with great customer service skills and the ability to moderate online and offline conversations with our community. Ultimately, he/she should be able to act as the face and voice of our organization and manage all community communications.
Job Purpose
The responsibilities of the Communication and Community Specialist include:
- Set and implement social media and communication campaigns to align with the marketing strategies of the organization;
- Provide engaging text, image, and video content for social media accounts;
- Respond to comments and queries from our target community promptly;
- Build the newsletter of WETECH;
- Monitor and report on feedback and online reviews;
- Organize and participate in events to build community and boost awareness of WETECH programs, projects, and services;
- Coordinate with the Communication Manager and technical teams to ensure consistency in the communication and community management approach;
- Work in close collaboration with programs and growth departments to stay updated on new programs, projects, and services;
- Build relationships with members of our target community, industry professionals, and journalists;
- Stay up-to-date with digital technology and communication trends.
- Proven work experience of at least 2 years as a community manager;
- Proven strategic communication experience;
- Experience launching community initiatives;
- Ability to identify and track relevant community metrics;
- Excellent verbal communication skills in both English and French;
- Excellent writing skills in both English and French;
- Hands-on experience with social media management and communication for brands and organizations;
- Ability to interpret website traffic and online community engagement metrics;
- Knowledge of online marketing and marketing tools and channels;
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask;
- Good mastery of new technologies (Google Pack and social networks)
- Ability to speak and write in English and French.
