Women In Entrepreneurship and Technology
WETECH (Women in Entrepreneurship and Technology), an association supporting women’s empowerment in Cameroon and Africa, has been selected as one of the winners of the Joint Innovation Challenge 2022: Innovations to Empower women and girls.
The Joint Innovation Challenge 2022 is an international competition organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the International Trade Centre (ITC). After a rigorous process involving 300 entries received, 61 countries represented, and 20 finalists, the 10 winners of this competition were announced by an official UNFPA press release in August 2022.
The ten (10) winners sign a 9- month contract with UNFPA and receive an equity-free investment of US$60,000. UNFPA and its partners will also support the winners through targeted mentoring, training opportunities, interactive workshops, and exclusive access to the UN network.
As part of our activities, WETECH was selected as one of the 10 winners of this competition. The Joint Innovation Challenge is a competition to provide funding for social enterprises with innovative solutions that advance the empowerment of women and girls worldwide. It is partially funded by UNFPA’s Equalizer Accelerator Fund, which provides equity-free investments in social enterprises that are led or co-led by women can demonstrate evidence of the impact they will have, enabling them to test and scale up their projects.

WETECH (Women in Entrepreneurship and Technology) is an innovation center in Cameroon and Togo focused on women in Entrepreneurship and Technology. The organization supports women by providing digital skills training, business and entrepreneurship mentorship, access to resources and opportunities. WETECH advocates for better inclusion and empowerment of women through technology and entrepreneurship to close the gender gaps.
