The organization aims to create a network of dynamic women leaders by providing them with opportunities and resources for their development through entrepreneurship and technology. We are looking for a Communication and Community Specialist in Douala.

Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified communication and community specialist to join our team. If you are a tech-savvy professional, experienced in social media, public relations promotional events, and strategic communication, then this position is for you. Our ideal candidate should have exceptional oral and written communication skills in both of Cameroon’s official languages and be able to develop engaging content. He/She should be a “people person” with great customer service skills and the ability to moderate online and offline conversations with our community. Ultimately, he/she should be able to act as the face and voice of our organization and manage all community communications.

Job Purpose

The responsibilities of the Communication and Community Specialist include: 

• Set and implement social media and communication campaigns to align with the marketing strategies of the organization;
• Provide engaging text, image, and video content for social media accounts; 
• Respond to comments and queries from our target community promptly; 
• Build the newsletter of WETECH;
• Monitor and report on feedback and online reviews;
• Organize and participate in events to build community and boost awareness of WETECH programs, projects, and services;
• Coordinate with the Communication Manager and technical teams to ensure consistency in the communication and community management approach; 
• Work in close collaboration with programs and growth departments to stay updated on new programs, projects, and services;
• Build relationships with members of our target community, industry professionals, and journalists;
• Stay up-to-date with digital technology and communication trends.

Education

Be a holder of at least a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or related fields.

Knowledge and Experience

• Proven work experience of at least 2 years as a community manager;
• Proven strategic communication experience;
• Experience launching community initiatives;
• Ability to identify and track relevant community metrics;
• Excellent verbal communication skills in both English and French;
• Excellent writing skills in both English and French;
• Hands-on experience with social media management and communication for brands and organizations;
• Ability to interpret website traffic and online community engagement metrics;
• Knowledge of online marketing and marketing tools and channels;
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask;
• Good mastery of new technologies (Google Pack and social networks)
• Ability to speak and write in English and French.
