We are pleased to announce that WETECH is an ecosystem partner for the first-ever Virtual edition of the AfriLabs Annual Gathering holding from 12-14 October. We invite the public especially women and women organizations to join the conversation on building resilience to grow a thriving innovation economy in Africa. The will take place virtually from the 12th to the 14th of October 2020.

This year’s AfriLabs Annual Gathering is a domestic resource mobilization call to set a new agenda to achieve new goals that destabilize the status quo, instead of adopting an already existing agenda not tailor-made for the African society. The 3-day Gathering will feature sessions with:

• Focused panel discussions on thematic topics,
• Keynote addresses,
• Presentation sessions,
• Multiple parallel workshops,
• Networking sessions. 

Over 1000 hubs, innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, academia, VCs, ESOs, investors, training and legal consultants, business/professional development experts, and creatives are billed to attend this year’s edition. The key points of the agenda include : 

•  Djembe Consultants in partnership with AfriLabs will launch a report on the African Innovation Ecosystem covering trends and opportunities, the potential impact of the COVID 19 pandemic, and the framing of a regional policy discussion.
• Mozilla will also host a roundtable discussion during the Gathering on understanding the local needs, expertise, and capabilities of African countries and explore under-served issues and areas that could spur the next generation of innovation in the region.
• KTN Global Alliance will also host a masterclass to answer investment readiness questions whilst providing advice and guidance for organizations seeking funding. 

Another opportunity from this annual gathering is a grant of 15,000 Euros that will be awarded to 17 Innovation Hubs across Africa under the AfriLabs Capacity Building Programme. The AfriLabs Capacity Programme is sponsored by the AFD through its Digital Africa seed at the Capacity Building Awards Night on the last day of the Gathering.
